Not even in the MR2 days? Your trans must have been in a lot better shape than mine is. :-)

Nope never, I did however do a little bit of trail braking. :)
My feet are too small to reach to hit both pedals

Well you *shouldn't* blow a clutch due to an autox, you take off like at a stop light, then you shift to second then you never touch it again till your finished.

haha. if i make it to the event, lol jk. i have horrible luck with clutches. granted this is still only my second on the car i learned on.

also, not trying to be a smartass, but if this is where a lot of people start racing, then what the hell are schools for?

Schools are a good place to learn from others where your skills are lacking.
I walked course with an evo school instructor and just after that I drive so much better.. ask most people on here... I drove the best I've ever driven at the Toledo Pro Solo.. The schools help a lot. It's easier to fix a mistake you make if you learn where you're making it. Plus they''ll help you fix it.
There is always something to learn and room for improvement. I have been racing for 3 seasons now and I can tell you where I make mistakes and what I'm supposed to do its the execution that is the the hard part.

oh, i know that feeling. easier said than done? yeahh. i am not much of a public speaker. try not one successful presentation in my entire school career. i hate that crap. which is one more reason racing will be a challenge. i was gonna sign up for ohio racing school, and take my car, but 750 seemed like a lot.... then again, if it lasts a lifetime, i think it would be worth the effort. plus, a first place finish wins a free class? hmm... i got this, lol.

If you want to do fender to fender road racing or whatever you need to attend schools. I believe an SCCA competition license requires 2 schools, at the schools they teach more then just car control, they teach safety, flagging procedures, passing, and other things you need to know if you're going to be on a road course with other people at the same time.

Also don't discount the value of having one on one time with an experienced instructor, they can often provide insight you might not come up with on your own. For instance I attribute my GLDiv win earlier this year to advice I got from Scott Hearne on the course walk Sunday morning, he made an observation about a corner that I'm not sure I would have come up with on my own.

ok, so, to make sure one more time about this whole thing.

we get to the mall, register, tech check, and then wait for the novice walk, and lastly the drivers meeting before the race? (taking out subs and tire tonite)

also, if anyone wants to ride with me and show me the ropes, im up for it. and final question. if you are not racing, you are working the track....?

Judging from the # of pre-entries we will 'probably' be running a 3 heat format.

You run 1 heat, work 1 heat, and have 1 heat to do whatever.

Everything else you said is correct.

So looks like you made it through your first event alright. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful at the event but with only 43 people there was a lot of work that needed to be done between the chiefs and chairs.
